The New\nZealand Antarctic Society is proud to invite you to a curated selection of captivating short\nfilms from the heart of Antarctica\, preceded by stories from a local speaker or a rapid-fire\npresentation exploring 20 facets of Antarctica in 20 minutes. \nThis engaging programme blends stunning documentary footage\, curated by award winning\nfilmmaker Anthony Powell\, that reveals the continent’s stark beauty\, unforgiving conditions\,\nclimate change\, and penguin antics with stories captured by inventive and funny entries from\nthe Winter International Film Festival of Antarctica’s 48-Hour Challenge\, an annual\nshowcase of creativity and resilience from those who winter-over on the Ice. \nBut before the movies\, you will be taken on the journey of a local speaker about their first-\nhand Antarctic experiences\, or there will be a powerful presentation that introduces you to 20\nfacets of Antarctica in 20 minutes\, so hang on to your seats! \n“It’s about bringing Antarctica to the people of New Zealand\, through science\, art\, humour\,\nand personal connection\,” says Hubertien Wichers\, President of the New Zealand Antarctic\nSociety. “The tour has been very successful\, inspiring audiences and connecting the local\ncommunity through Antarctica. For example\, we connected Scouts who went to the Ice in the\nearly 1960’s with young Scouts doing their Antarctic badges\, sharing their stories and\ninspiring the next generation of explorers.
